KUALA LUMPUR: When all forms of outdoor activities were temporarily halted due to the Movement Control Order (MCO), an avid runner like Yim Heng Fatt had to get creative.
Since the implementation of the MCO, the 50-year-old man has adapted his daily outdoor routine... by running indoor.
Yim said everyone can still remain active despite being ‘locked down’ in the comfort of their homes.
Accompanied by videos and photos, Yim shared his indoor activities during the MCO on his Facebook page.
“No outdoor run? No treadmill? No problem. Run indoor! Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it.
“Living room - stairs - upper living room - stairs - kitchen - kitchen yard - kitchen - dining area - living room.
“Not too bad, a mix of run and elevation training, still sweat buckets though,” he wrote on March 22, accompanied by two photos of him climbing up and down the stairs in his house.
In another post, Yim also shared a video (link: https://www.facebook.com/Yimmy/posts/10158144644823431) of his daily workout; lifting (cats!).
“Everyone's posting their daily workout here, so I will share mine too! Tough work,” he wrote.
Rest assured that none of his cats, weighing between 2.5kg and 5kg, were harmed during his workout session.
And over the weekend, Yim took part in the 10,000km Date Charity Run.
According to Yim, the run was organised by YSandals Malaysia to encourage runners to run at home, which in return they will donate a face mask for every 10km logged.
The face masks will then be donated to Lahad Datu Hospital, Kuching General Hospital and Chik Hsin Thong Old Folks Home, Klang.
The 36 hours challenge, started on April 4 (from 6am) to April 5 (to 6pm), saw Yim logged a total of 263km.
Yim shared his progress regularly on his Facebook during the 36-hour challenge; including listening to music while running as well as taking breaks.
Alongside Yim, 340 runners took part in the charity run.
Collectively, they managed to log a total distance of 14,119.65km.
