KUALA LUMPUR: Aeon Group of Companies in Malaysia contributed 2,000 homecare boxes and 300 portable chairs to four of the red zone hospitals in the Klang Valley, Negri Sembilan and Melaka, yesterday.
The company has also contributed 4,200 packed dinners to one of the hospitals for distribution during the extended MCO (Movement Control Order) from April 3 to 14.
Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) director, Datuk Heric Corray and his administrative team accepted the contribution from Aeon Co. Berhad managing director Shafie Shamsudin, and Aeon Credit Service Berhad managing director Yuro Kisaka.
Facilitating the handover were Aeon staff volunteers from across the group which also included those from Aeon BiG, Aeon Delight, Aeon Fantasy, Aeon Global Supply Chain Management, Aeon Compass and Aeon TopValu.
“We hope that these portable, easy to carry chairs and the homecare boxes will be helpful to any health worker (and patient) needing a chair to sit on and rest should such amenities be limited at the hospitals.
“Also, for workers requiring coffee, snacks or instant meals in between long working hours, the individual homecare boxes (with a one week supply of food and healthcare products) will perhaps make their long day a little easier,” said Malaysian Aeon Foundation president Datin Yasmin Merican.
As part of the group’s "We Care We Share" effort, Aeon hopes to play a useful role, together with other companies in Malaysia, in ensuring the wellbeing of dedicated frontliners and those in need during the Covid-19 outbreak.
