PUTRAJAYA: Help is pouring in from private, corporate and government organisations for Malaysian frontliners attached to Embassies and Consulates aboard to aid their fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Foreign Ministry through its Malaysia Diplomatic Equipment Stockpile (MDES) initiative has received a total of RM250,000 in cash and about 350,000 face masks to be distributed among Malaysia’s diplomatic missions' personnel and Malaysians abroad.
The contributions saw an anonymous donor contributing RM150,000 to MDES. Wisma Putra's Bilateral Affairs Department deputy secretary-general Datuk Amran Mohd Zin presented the mock cheque of RM150,000 on behalf of the donor.
Roadcare Sdn Bhd and Tan Sri Francis Lam in his personal capacity presented RM50,000 each to MDES.
Other than monetary contribution, Wisma Putra also received 300,000 facial masks from corporate company Perfect China Limited. Another 45,000 masks were contributed by West Star Group, Malaysia Myanmar Business Chambers and personal contribution courtesy of Datuk Wan Zaini Wan Abdullah.
Foreign Ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob accepted the donations and contributions on behalf of MDES in a simple ceremony at Wisma Putra here today.
It was witnessed by Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who thanked the donors for their donations.
