Small traders and local hawkers are ready for Ramadan e-bazaar with 'Warong Digital'

PETALING JAYA: With the fasting month around the corner, local hawkers and small traders are looking forward to do their business online through ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ programme.

Launched on April 16 by Coalition of Malay Small Traders Association (GPPPKMM) and Kiplepay Sdn Bhd (KiplePay), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Green Packet Berhad, the programme has received an overwhelming response from the local traders as this enables them to conduct their businesses online during Ramadan as well as helping them to generate income.

GPPPKMM Secretary-General Mohamed Zamri Mohamed said the current registered number in ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ programme stands about 25 per cent of the local bazaar traders.

“In these coming few days, we are expecting to see a sharp increase of at least 50 per cent more in terms of the number of registrations since we have more than 20,000 traders who do business in the bazaar,” he said.

The ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ programme is meant to assist the small traders and local hawkers to operate their businesses online throughout the month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on April 24.

This programme leverages on KiplePay e-wallet that enables local traders to conduct online transactions seamlessly while providing an entire cashless experience to the customers as the customers just need to download KiplePay e-wallet app and pre-order from the app itself for collection and delivery.

This eliminates any on-premise waiting time, the usage of cash and in line with social distancing practice which gives a great ease of mind and convenience to all parties; from merchants to delivery riders and consumers.

On top of this, GPPPKMM is also collaborating with various delivery partners by extending the home-delivery service to help local traders and hawkers to deliver orders from their premises to customers directly during Ramadan. Some of the delivery partners who are already on-board with GPPPKMM and KiplePay are Lalamove that covers the Klang Valley area.

“With no registration fee required, we continue to welcome more local traders and merchants to register their businesses with us through ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ program. Besides, we also welcome more delivery companies to join us in this initiative to smoothen the delivery process from traders to customers during the Ramadan month,” adds Zamri.

From April 24, the general public can start to order their favorite food through ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ programme by downloading the KiplePay app.

Kay Tan, Chief Executive of KiplePay said the joy of having one’s favourite delicacies with their family members especially when breaking fast is indescribable.

“Although there will be no physical Ramadan bazaars this year, we strive to bring this tradition to all Malaysians by extending our solutions to help the local community to thrive because we know that nothing is more important than celebrating this moment with your loved ones”, she said.

Tan said they are extremely honoured to partner with GPPPKMM to continue supporting the local and small traders by assisting them to do business online and making ends meet.

“Through this initiative, a collaborative ecosystem is created between the traders and customers where all Malaysians can continue the Ramadan tradition merrily despite that we are keeping to the Movement Control Order (MCO), she said.

From April 24 onwards, KiplePay users can browse through a variety of available food, beverages and other items sold by the ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ traders, place their orders and collect their favorite food without being physically present at the trader stalls.

KiplePay application can be downloaded in both Android Playstore and Apple iOS.
