PUTRAJAYA: The enforcement of the three phases of the Movement Control Order (MCO) so far managed to flatten the curve in the fight against Covid-19 and Malaysia is now in the recovery phase, Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
He said after looking at the situation, April 3 was the peak where 217 cases were recorded in a single day.
"We were expecting a peak on Apr 14, a prediction of 6,300 cases, but we did not see the peak then.
"This means, perhaps MCO 1 and 2 flattened the peak, and we realised now we are at a recovery phase and not a peak phase," he said.
Dr Noor Hisham said he hoped the momentum will be maintained and number of cases continue to decline.
However he warned that there is a possibility to have exponential surge "if we let our guards down."
"So, it is important for us to make sure that we continue what we have done in MCO 1, 2 and 3," he said.
