KUALA LUMPUR: Taxi and e-hailing services will be allowed to operate from 5am until midnight starting next Monday.
This follows the announcement by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that the government will allow several economic sectors and business activities to resume operations, subject to conditions and health-related Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) beginning May 4.
According to the SOP for the land public transportation sector (taxi/e-hailing), which was shared in the National Security Council's Telegram group today, taxi and e-hailing services are only permitted to take a maximum of two passengers per trip.
Passengers are only allowed to sit at the back and contactless payment like e-wallet is encouraged.
The SOP also said drivers and passengers are required to wear face masks.
Under the current Movement Control Order (MCO), which is currently in its fourth phase, taxi and e-hailing services are only allowed to operate from 6am until 10pm.
