PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is amused over the attention given to the shirts he wears during his daily televised briefings, sharing that the selection is usually made by his wife or son-in-law.
Not a surprise as his son-in-law is none other than renowned fashion designer Datuk Jovian Mandagie.
The senior minister for the security cluster's eye-catching and colourful shirts have been likened to Ramadan delicacies on social media.
"My wife helps me choose and decide whether the colour of my batik shirt matches the other things I am wearing.
"Occasionally, I will receive advice from my son-in-law, who is fashion designer, Jovian Mandagie on what to wear during the daily press conferences," said the Defence Minister in an interview with the New Straits Times and Berita Harian.
Ismail Sabri, who is also the Bera member of Parliament, said the reactions from the people showed that they tuned in every day to find out the latest news.
"While I believe they are more interested in the latest updates than merely seeing me, it shows that they pay attention to details. I take this positively.
"Appearing on TV every day to brief the concerned public, I cannot afford to make any mistakes. Every detail, even my shirts, are scrutinised. I have to answer questions correctly and confidently as it is a reflection of the government's efforts in combating Covid-19."
