IPOH: She may be the latest Youtube sensation in a list of many, but S. Pavithra's simplicity and warmth set her apart from the rest.
Through her YouTube channel Sugu Pavithra, she won the hearts of many Malaysians including Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and has even garnered fans outside the country.
Making this newfound online fame more memorable for Pavithra, 28 and her husband, M. Sugu, is receiving a special delivery from Muhyiddin on Monday.
Among the items they received were a camera tripod, microwave, oven, rice cooker and cooking essentials.
"I have never thought of receiving gifts from the Prime Minister. Who am I? I am only an ordinary person. I even received a special card from him that had the message: keep up the good work, just stay at home.
"Nobody informed me that a parcel would arrive at my doorstep on Monday, even the card did not bear the Prime Minister's signature on it. Hours after I received it, I got a phone call from the Prime Minister Office's, asking me whether I have received the parcel.
"That was when I knew that the parcel was from the Prime Minister. I would like to thank him and meet him personally but I know it is impossible to meet him during this Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)," she said when contacted today.
The mother of two said the Prime Minister also reminded her to keep cooking and share her delicacies with her neighbours, which she has been practising.
"I have yet to use all the cooking equipment except for the tripod which I used during a live interview and I am still using a cup (as a stand) to record my cooking," she said adding that she hopes her Youtube channel would benefit the people.
