KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) marked its 53rd anniversary today with the official launch of two new products as gifts to society.
One of these is columns - Tinta Minda in Bahasa Melayu and Thoughts in English - comprising commentaries by thought leaders on the Bernama.com portal and the other, Cerfikir.com, a website devoted to light-hearted, human interest videos.
The Tinta Minda and Thoughts columns serve as platforms for experts from various backgrounds to share their views, perspectives and ideas on current issues or any topic.
The views shared can be another source of knowledge for the public besides adding value to the relevant industries as well as the country.
They were developed with a view to creating a larger thinking society among Malaysians and have been accessible since April 27, drawing a high volume of traffic.
Based on the positive response, Bernama has added four more columns, namely Women's Write (Pena Wanita) which focuses on women empowerment; What Say Youth (Suara Belia) which highlights issues concerning the young generation; Campus Note (Nota Kampus) which brings news from universities to the community; as well as Civilisation (Ketamadunan) which focuses on the achievements and advancement of the community and the country.
For a start, content for the columns will be posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Selected commentaries in the Tinta Minda or Thoughts columns will be reproduced as news reports for distribution via the Wires service, aired on BernamaTV and BernamaRadio, and uploaded onto the agency's social media pages.
The Cerfikir.com website serves as a platform to amplify videos contributed by the public that promote positive, harmonious, solidarity and the spirit of Malaysia elements.
Bernama was established in 1967 by an Act of Parliament. It began as a news agency and has transformed into a media organisation that now houses a news agency, a radio station and a television channel, besides its social media platforms. – BERNAMA
