KUALA LUMPUR: Travel for married couples stranded in different states – which was halted before Hari Raya Aidilfitri during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) – can resume from Monday onwards.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision to allow interstate travel for separated couples was adopted following a ministerial meeting today.
However, he said that interstate travel is still not allowed for the rest of the public, except for work purposes or emergencies, such as the death of a close relative or for medical reasons.
The government first allowed interstate travel for separated married couples on May 10.
On May 21, the government decided to temporarily halt interstate travel to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the Aidilfitri period.
Those wishing to travel across state lines to be reunited with their spouses can make their application through the Gerak Malaysia app or at the nearest police station.
