PUTRAJAYA: Sixteen people were nabbed on Wednesday for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order's (RMCO) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said of the total, two people were remanded, while 14 were issued compounds for breaching offences such as failing to register before entering commercial premises and taking customers' body temperatures.
"The task force on SOP, led by the police, conducted 67,047 inspections on July 2 (yesterday)," said the Senior Defence Minister at a press conference today.
A total of 3,479 compliance task force teams involving 15,330 personnel conducted checks nationwide, he said.
Checks were conducted at 3,946 supermarkets, 5,655 restaurants, 1,454 stalls, and 1,242 factories.
Also checked were 2,044 night markets and Pasar Tani; 3,895 places of worship, and 1,617 recreational areas.
Meanwhile, 9,104 sanitisation operations were conducted nationwide under the supervision of the Housing and Local Government Ministry since March 30, covering 134 zones.
They zones comprise business premises, government buildings, housing schemes including People's Housing Projects (PPRs), public places and supermarkets.
"Yesterday (July 2), 22 sanitisation operations were conducted. They covered 15 zones in five states, including Sabah (10 operations), Sarawak (five) and Melaka (four)."
The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB), he said, conducted checks on 57 construction sites yesterday, with 46 found to be compliant with the SOPs, seven non-compliant and four yet to begin operations.
Ismail Sabri said to date, 2,706 sites were found to be in compliance with the SOP, 491 were not compliant and issued warnings; and 19 others were ordered to temporarily close for SOP non-compliance.
