PUTRAJAYA: Everyone must be responsible and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in order to curb the spread of Covid-19, regardless the relaxed rules under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government had received numerous complaints via social media of people flouting the SOPs, such as the failure to practise social distancing.
"I want to remind Malaysians that the RMCO has not ended. Act 342 (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988) and other rules and SOPs are still being enforced.
"It is our responsibility to care and safeguard our health. We don't see enforcement officers or police around us but as I, the Health Minister, Health director-general and the Prime Minister have stressed before, the virus is still around us.
"As long as there is no vaccine, it can infect anybody. So I am pleading to the people to always have stay vigilant. We must be our own frontliners. We need cooperation from everyone to break the Covid-19 infection chain."
During the live telecast press conference, Ismail Sabri said 414 out of 1,400 Malaysian returnees due for the second Covid-19 swab test have yet to do so.
He urged the group, which was to undergo the test on the 13th of the 14th mandatory home quarantine to go to the nearest health clinic or the Health Ministry as soon as possible.
"I do not know if they are merely stubborn or they are unaware of the SOPs. I hope they will undergo the second screening to ascertain if they are negative or otherwise.
"If it is convenient, go by yourself. Do not wait for the police to go to your homes and bring you there (medical facilities) instead."
