KUALA LUMPUR: Frequent travellers between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak are not required to undergo mandatory quarantine upon reaching their destinations.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said only travellers arriving from abroad must undergo mandatory quarantine at their final destination.
He said this includes individuals transiting at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Sarawak, who are to undergo quarantine in the state.
"Passengers flying to Sarawak are only randomly checked at the entry point. If a person is found to be symptomatic and confirmed positive, he or she will be taken to hospital and placed under quarantine.
"This matter was announced by the Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, in a special meeting of the National Security Council here, today," he told a press conference.
