KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is working closely with relevant agencies to streamline procedures with the implementation of mandatory Covid-19 screening for all arrivals from Sabah.
Following severe congestion at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) yesterday, which saw Sabah returnees waiting for hours to undergo swab tests, the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) is now distributing food packs to all passengers waiting to be screened.
MAHB said the airport will continue to work with Nadma and contribute towards the distribution of complementary food and drinks to passengers.
To ensure their comfort and convenience while going through additional measures, MAHB has opened priority lanes for the elderly, disabled, pregnant mothers and families with young children to help ease their arrival process, MAHB said in a statement today.
Additional seats will also be provided at the arrival gates.
To help ensure physical distancing and provide assistance to passengers, additional manpower from the aviation security and customer experience teams have also been deployed.
MAHB has also decided to implement various improvement initiatives, such as deploying mobile food and beverage (F&B) carts.
It is also working with F&B operators such as Starbucks, Kopi Kita, and Needs Convenience to extend their operation hours to cater to Sabah arrivals today.
Ten flights will arrive at KLIA and 19 at klia2, today.
MAHB said they have notified the Health Ministry and all relevant authorities of the expected flights.
