KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who had chaired the Special National Security Council (NSC) meeting on Oct 3, will observe a 14-day self-quarantine.
In a statement today, Muhyiddin said the Health Ministry had conducted Covid-19 screening on the all meeting's members and secretariat.
"Based on risk evaluation by the Health Ministry, those who have been identified as close contacts during the meeting have been issued a Home Surveillance Order for 14 days starting Oct 3 and told to wear a surveillance bracelet.
"Therefore, I will be observing a 14-day self-quarantine in my home, as advised by the ministry.
"This will not interfere with government affairs. I will continue to work from home and chair meetings through online video conferences," he added.
Muhyiddin said as a precautionary measure, he had been undergoing Covid-19 swab tests every two weeks since April and had tested negative all the time.
He also underwent three Covid-19 tests in the last three weeks on Sept 22, 26 and 29, and tested negative.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri today confirmed that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
Zulkifli had also attended the NSC meeting, which was held at the Prime Minister's Department on Saturday.
It was reported that other attendees included Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Senior Education Minister Dr Radzi Jidin.
Also in attendance were Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, and Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Affendi Buang.
