KUANTAN: Police today warned the public against producing fake documents to secure travel permits to cross state borders during the upcoming festive season.
Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said there had been previous attempts by certain irresponsible quarters using fake documents hoping the police would give them the green light to travel out of town.
He said following the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) at all states in the peninsula except for Perlis, Kelantan and Pahang, there might be an increase of those trying their luck to use fake documents to get travel permit for interstate travel.
"This should not happen as action can be taken against those using forged documents. We are aware of attempts by those who knowingly use false information in their documents when they try to secure the permit.
"We warn those who are even thinking of using this method to call off their plans. Police are scrutinising every document submitted before issuing the travel permit," he told reporters when met after the new normal as a culture programme at Indera Mahkota here today.
Mohamad Noor reminded individuals who wanted to secure police's approval to travel to come forward with proper justification and strong reasons along with supporting documents.
"For instance, some gave the reasons that they wanted to travel to check on their house in other places and some said their families were living in other states. We had to reject these applications.
"Parents, however, are allowed to pick their children up from hostels outside Pahang but they need to provide the relevant documents for the approval process," he said. adding parents should refrain from traveling in big groups when they headed to the hostels.
Mohamad Noor said so far 5,168 applications for interstate travel were received and out of that, 613 applications had been approved from Oct 14.
