KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign workers who are Social Security Organisation (Socso) contributors will qualify for the subsidised Covid-19 screening test under the Prihatin Screening Programme (PSP Perkeso) soon.
The compulsory screening test applies to foreign workers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Negri Sembilan, Penang and Sabah following the decision by the government via the National Security Council (NSC) on Nov 20.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said the NSC would announce the enforcement of the Covid-19 screening in due time.
He also said the screening test which used the RTK-Antigen method must be conducted at clinics or hospitals which are registered as PSP Perkeso panel clinic programme.
"The costs will be borne by the employers first, before they can apply for a PSP Perkeso subsidy from Socso. Sosco will make a subsidised payment of up to RM60 for each Covid-19 test. The payment will be made once for each employee.
"At the same time, employers must take proactive measures to adhere to the Workers' Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities (Amendment) Act 2019 (Act 446) enforced by the ministry to curb the spread of Covid-19 among their workers," said Saravanan in a statement today.
The list of panel clinics can be viewed at https://psp.perkeso.gov.my where detailed information of the programme will also be updated.
