KUALA LUMPUR: A large crowd, believed to be close friends and family members of a recent gunshot victim, gathered at the mortuary in Johor Baru this morning (Jan 9).
The victim's body was transported to the mortuary at Hospital Sultan Ismail yesterday afternoon for a post-mortem examination conducted this morning, according to a report by China Press.
Around 50 mourners dressed in black were seen outside the mortuary.
From early morning, a large number of the victim's relatives and acquaintances arrived, quickly filling up the parking lot and causing temporary traffic congestion in the area.
Due to the overwhelming number of vehicles, some mourners were forced to turn back. Police officers were stationed at the scene to manage the situation.
Johor police chief Datuk M. Kumar previously confirmed that the 40-year-old victim succumbed to injuries caused by gunshot wounds.
He assured the public that the incident was isolated and urged against speculation or the spread of misinformation that could hinder the investigation process.
