EMCO imposed on Taman Klebang Jaya, Taman Pinji Mewah [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Zone A of Taman Klebang Jaya and Taman Pinji Mewah in Ipoh, Perak, have been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from Dec 1 to Dec 14.

This was after both locations showed a sharp increase in Covid-19 numbers among workers in the Kamiya and Salutica factories located in the two areas.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said the EMCO was imposed as the factory workers live in the residential area.

"A total of 1,402 workers were screened at Kamiya and 228 cases tested positive and 110 cases were found to be living in Zone A of Klebang Jaya."

He also said that 737 workers were screened at Salutica which unearthed 119 positive Covid-19 cases, while another 618 were waiting for their results.

"Of the number 89 of them were from Taman Pinji Mewah."

He said the Health Ministry recommended the EMCO to break the chain of transmission and conduct targeted screening.

Ismail Sabri who is the Defence Minister said this during the daily security update today.

He said that the National Security Council's special meeting today also decided that EMCO would be imposed on the temporary detention centre in Sibuga, Sandakan from Dec 2 to Dec 15. "Of the 324 tests, 124 people were found to be positive."

He said that it would involve 1,209 people including 1,104 detainees and 105 staff.

Ismail Sabri said that the NSC was also briefed on the rise in cases in Kampung Desa Bajau and Kampung Dasar Baru in Lahad Datu.

"We have tested 665 and 90 cases have been recorded in both localities to date. Hence we have also been advised to put them under EMCO from Dec 2 to Dec 15."

"It involves 914 homes and 4,934 people and their SOPs is the same as other areas under EMCO.

No social or economic activities are allowed save for the operations of the grocers and markets can open twice a week and one person can go out to buy food."

As of yesterday Ismail Sabri said Sabah recorded 290 positive cases were as of yesterday. So far the Sabah has are 13 red zones, 10 yellow zones, 2 orange and green zones each.

"While the total number of cases in the state are still within three digits a large number of these cases are contributed by detention centres."

The EMCO has also ended for Putra Point in Nilai and Sekolah Agama Bantuan Kerajaan (SABK) Maahad Al Yahyawiyah, Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar.

The school EMCO ended earlier than schedule on Dec 5 based on the Health Ministry's advice.

He said the last positive case was reported was on Nov 26. The ministry also said that no tests in the areas have any tests outstanding.
