IPOH: A 32-year-old medical assistant died after he fell off from the third floor of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) building here yesterday.
It is learnt that the man, from Chemor, was suffering from a health condition and decided not to burden his family with it.
He left a note saying that he could no longer deal with his health problem and was unable to think clearly. He also extended an apology to his family and friends.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said a security guard stumbled upon the man's body, clad in a blue hospital uniform, at the hospital's motorcycle parking lot about 6.45pm.
Asmadi said the man died on the spot due to severe head and body injuries.
"One of his friends confirmed the man was his colleague and found the note in the deceased's bag which also contained a counselling card.
"A witness confirmed the deceased was on 24-hour duty the day he took his own life," he said, adding that the case has been classified as sudden death.
Several of the deceased's friends when met at the hospital's Forensic Unit here said he suffered from depression recently.
The man, who had served at the hospital for more than a year, was also planning to tie the knot this May.
