SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, along with five others, received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today.
They were among the first recipients of the vaccine in the state, part of for the state-level National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) which kicked off today.
Amirudin was later seen exiting the Shah Alam Hospital auditorium where the programme was held.
He was then escorted to an observation space in the area.
Speaking to the press, he said the vaccination process went smoothly and he felt fine.
"Alhamdullilah. I don't feel anything, but I will be kept for some time for observation (by the health personnel). I could develop allergies or reactions and if I do, I need to inform the personnel. But so far, so good.
"I hope this goes on to prove that the vaccine is safe for all. It has been thoroughly tested (through clinical trials). Hopefully, more people will have more confidence to be vaccinated in order to get us all protected against Covid-19," said Amirudin.
Amirudin received the Covid-19 jab together with state Health Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazzali, Selangor public health exco Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, Selangor Health Department director Datuk Dr Sha'ari Ngadiman and Selangor state secretary Datuk Nor Azmie Diron.
