KUALA LUMPUR: Those without smartphones can register for their Covid-19 vaccination by calling up a hotline starting this Friday (March 5).
Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in a reply on his Twitter @Khairykj said they can also register online at www.vaksincovid.gov.my.
Khairy was responding to @shyampriah, a member of a non-governmental organisation, who asked the minister if the organisation can take down relevant details and submit the registration for the Covid-19 vaccine on behalf of senior citizens without smartphones and families that were unable to register at the nearest health clinic.
She said the move would help the ministry, the Health Ministry, and communities in achieving the targeted percentage of Malaysians being vaccinated.
Currently, registration for the Covid-19 vaccine can be made via the MySejahtera application.
There are five methods to register for the vaccine as listed in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme handbook.
Other than the MySejahtera application, hotline and website registration, the public can also register at public and private health facilities, as well as via outreach programmes for rural and interior areas.
Yesterday, Khairy said the public registration for Covid-19 was still low with just 6.1 per cent as of 11am.
He said the level is quite low as the target is to get 80 per cent of Malaysians vaccinated.
Malaysia embarked on its biggest vaccination programme on Feb 24 with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah becoming the early recipients of the vaccine.
