KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is expected to allow express buses to operate with strict standard operation procedures (SOP) soon.
State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said among the SOPs include scanning the MySejahtera QR code, wearing face masks, temperature checks and utilising only half of the passenger capacity in vehicles.
"Drivers have to be screened for symptoms and take their temperature before work. They are not allowed to work if they display symptoms.
"There should be periodic announcements in the bus to remind passengers to follow the SOPs," he said in a statement, adding that buses should not make any stops at restaurants and the pick up and drop-off points would be at the terminals only.
The Local Government and Housing minister also added that sanitisation of the vehicles have to be done frequently or after every trip is completed.
As for passengers crossing zone, they will be asked to get permission from the police.
Sabah has yet to allow inter-district travel but the government has divided several districts into six zones for people to cross without approval from the authorities.
People are also encouraged to buy their tickets via online or cashless transactions.
Today, Sabah recorded 71 Covid-19 cases with 25 from Keningau, Tawau(13), Kota Kinabalu (10), Penampang and Telupid (6), Sandakan (4), Putatan and Kinabatangan (2), Kota Belud, Papar and Beluran (1).
Beaufort is the second district that is now a green zone after Tongod.
