KUALA LUMPUR: Over half a million doses of Covid-19 Sinovac vaccines are expected to be ready for rollout soon.
National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Pharmaniaga, which was responsible for bottling the vaccine from China through the fill-and-finish process, was expected to deliver some 180,000 doses this week.
"Another 450,000 doses will be ready on May 18. The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) is currently conducting the vaccine potency test.
"As far as the fill-and-finish products by Sinovac, it will be released starting this month," said the Science, Technology and Innovation minister in a Press conference via Zoom today.
He said the country has received the bulk delivery from China for the vaccine supply for May and June, with each bag containing about 300,000 doses.
It was reported last month that the fill-and-finish Sinovac vaccine by Pharmaniaga LifeScience Sdn Bhd has received the conditional approval from the NPRA, the first manufactured in the country.
The vaccine is the second source of CoronaVac registered under Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd China.
