KUALA LUMPUR: The AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine will now be included in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).
Khairy Jamaluddin, who is the programme's Coordinating Minister said following encouraging response received during the booking sessions for the vaccine under the opt-in programme, the AstraZeneca vaccine would now be placed under the NIP.
"It appears that the people no longer have any aversion towards this vaccine as seen before following media reports linking blood clots to AstraZeneca.
"Hence, the AZ vaccine will no longer be an opt-in programme, but will be included in the NIP," he said during a virtual press conference today.
Khairy further said registrants would soon be able to choose the kind of vaccine they want via the MySejahtera application, which will be upgraded soon.
