Msians lauded for staying home to break infection chain

KUALA LUMPUR: Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has lauded Malaysians for staying at home to break the Covid-19 infection chain.

The minister, in a Facebook post, shared a video of him driving around the capital city last night all by himself without any entourage to monitor the situation on the ground.

The roads he was on appeared deserted with no sight of cars or pedestrians.

Clad in a brown baju melayu and sarong, Ismail Sabri also checked in on police officers who were on duty at the roadblocks and shared a light moment with them.

"I am very touched. I applaud all of you for your cooperation by continuing to #stayathome.

"I also dropped by at the roadblocks to see how our (security) frontliners are doing.

"Insya Allah (God willing), we will fight (the pandemic) together, guys," he posted on Facebook today.

Today (June 1) marks the first day of Malaysia entering a total lockdown after the country registered a record-high of 9,020 Covid-19 positive cases and 98 fatalities on Saturday (May 29).

Malaysians have ever since been encouraged to undergo a voluntary "self-lockdown" by staying at home and to make online purchases.
