3 areas in Selangor's Petaling to go under EMCO

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will place seven localities in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Terengganu under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) for two weeks starting July 1.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in Selangor, the three localities in Petaling are Mentari Court, PJS 8; Taman Perumahan SS 91A, Sungai Way and Pangsapuri Westlite – PKNS.

He said to date, the Health Ministry had reported a high infectivity rate in the three localities, with 137 cases in Mentari Court, PJS 8; 64 cases in Taman Perumahan SS91A; and 215 cases at Pangsapuri Westlite - PKNS.

In Kuala Lumpur, the affected areas are the Pantai Ria People's Housing Project (PPR), and at Taman Bukit Angkasa.

Out of the 861 tests conducted at Pantai Ria PPR, 171 came back positive, while 153 out of 697 residents tested at Taman Bukit Angkasa were positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, Kampung Balung Cocos in Tawau, Sabah, would also be put under the EMCO after reporting a positivity rate of 33.33 per cent.

The seventh place to be put under EMCO is Kampung Kubang Jela, Mukim Manir in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, which reported a positivity rate of 54.3 per cent.

"At the same time, the Health Ministry reports that cases had increased in a short time, with a high infectivity rate in the locality.

"After a risk assessment and on advice by the Health Ministry, the government has agreed to place these localities under the EMCO starting July 1 to 14."

Meanwhile, the government has lifted the EMCO in several areas in Sabah, and two localities in Kuching, Sarawak.

In Sabah, the areas include Country Heights Apartment and Vista Minintod Apartment (Penampang); Taman Ehsan PPR (Kudat); Kampung Rancangan and Kampung Kijang Merotai (Kalabakan); Kampung Tanjung Batu Tengah and Taman Semarak Megah (Tawau); and Kampung Rampayan and Kampung Kionsom Kecil (Kota Kinabalu).

The localities in Kuching are Kampung Goebilt and Kampung Muara Tebas.
