Long queues at Stadium Malawati CAC as people wait for quarantine assessments, treatment

SHAH ALAM: More than 1,000 Covid-19 positive individuals who queued up today at Stadium Malawati in Section 13, here, were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive patients.

They were at the stadium to be assessed on quarantine procedure and treatment.

A 52-second duration video that had gone viral since noon showed long lines of people from all walks of life, with the queue stretching up to 500m waiting to enter the stadium where they were to be assessed by health personnel at the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC).

Darul Ehsan Facilities Management Sdn Bhd (DEFM) manager Ahmad Sayuti Bashiron, who is also the CAC facilities coordinator, confirmed the authenticity of the video.

"As the coordinator representing Shah Alam Stadium, I can confirm the video which went viral since early today on the current situation faced by the CAC here.

"The centre has seen a significant increase in the number of new admissions in the past two to three weeks.

"I can estimate that today is one of the highest assessment conducted by the CAC since February but only the Health Ministry can confirm the numbers," he said when contacted.

Sayuti said the individuals seen queuing right up to the intersection of a supermarket next to the stadium tested positive for Covid-19 and were waiting to be assessed by Health Ministry officers.

"Individuals began entering the CAC compound as early as 6.30 am, previously they arrived at 5am but now they are here queuing up from 6.30 am to 3pm especially those who came in buses from factories.

"There are more foreigners from factories recently and the patients who arrived here are under the supervision of the Petaling Jaya Health District Office," he said.
