KUALA LUMPUR: Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be imposed in 13 more localities in Sabah, Pahang, and Kelantan, from July 28 to Aug 10, to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The affected areas are Sungai Klau and Sungai Chalit, Raub, IBN Highland construction site, Genting Highlands, Bentong, and Kampung Pagar Batu 6 Penjom, Lipis in Pahang; and Kampung Telaga Tujoh, Labok, Machang, Kelantan.
The remaining eight areas are in Sabah, namely Kampung Kauran, Keningau; Kampung Menengah, Kampung Buang Sayang, and Kampung Pasir Putih Sipitang, Sipitang; Kampung Mosrtyn Lama, Kunak, Ladang Pontian Kuril living quarters, Kinabatangan; Taman Kinarut Ria, Papar and Kampung Tawadakan, Kota Belud.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government had agreed to enforce EMCO in these areas after taking into account risk assessment and the Covid-19 trend presented by the Health Ministry at the National Security Council (NSC) special meeting.
He said the same existing EMCO standard operating procedures would be enforced, adding that details could be found on the NSC website at www.mkn.gov.my.
Ismail Sabri also announced EMCO extension in Felda Maokil, Muar, Johor; Kampung Madsiang, Penampang, Kampung Patikang Ulu, Focus Lumber factory and quarters, Veracity factory and quarters, Hasil Jadi factory and quarters, IDA driving centre and Penempatan Indonesian in Sabah.
"The EMCO at these areas are scheduled to end on July 27, but after reassessment of the Covid-19 situation, they have been extended till Aug 10," he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, he also announced that the EMCO in Felda Lembah Klau in Raub, Taman Benus Jaya flat in Bentong, Taman Muhibbah Fasa 1,2 &3, Beaufort, Beverly Hills Apartment Fasa 2 and Kampung Kobusak in Penampang, Kampung Kendaie and Kampung Bukit Batu, Lundu in Kuching will be lifted as scheduled tomorrow.
"The EMCO in Kampung Bukit Tanah, Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, will be lifted earlier than the scheduled Aug 1."
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri who is the Defence Minister said the Compliance Operation Task Force had conducted 74,561 inspections and snap checks nationwide yesterday.
"These including checks on 1,819 factories, 13,797 business premises, 702 construction sites and 198 workers' living quarters.
"After the inspections, 31 premises involving four factories, 27 business premises, were ordered to shut down for failing to comply with the SOP," he said.
At the same time, he said, some 438 individuals were detained for violating the MCO SOP. Of the total, 434 were slapped with compounds while four were remanded.
Five illegal migrants and five land vehicles were seized during Op Benteng yesterday.
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry had also conducted 2,417 SOP Compliance special inspections nationwide where eight premises received compounds after being found not adhering to the SOP.
All 672 individuals who arrived at the international entry points were ordered to undergo mandatory quarantine at designated centres.
A total of 156 disinfection operations were carried out at 59 red zones, four yellow zones and two green zones.
