PENAMPANG: Police shot and killed three criminals in a shootout at Beverly Hill here last night.
The incident, which occurred at 9.13pm, involved three male suspects believed to be connected to various criminal activities, including a murder case.
Sabah Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Azmi Abdul Rahim said that acting on intelligence, a team of officers from the Special Investigation Division (D9) of the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) raided an apartment on the first floor.
"As the raid unfolded, a shootout occurred between the suspects and the police.
"However, our officers managed to fatally shot all three criminals," he said during a press conference at the scene.
Azmi said that investigations were still ongoing.
"These suspects are believed to have been involved in several criminal cases, including a murder in Sarawak," he said.
A forensic team from the Sabah IPK was also on site to carry out further investigations.
