19,257 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia logged 19,257 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours - a slight drop after the spike of more than 20,000 cases over the last two consecutive days.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor remained the state with the highest number of new infections at 7,084.

Other states with four-digit cases are Kuala Lumpur with 2,450 new infections followed by

Johor (1,182), Sabah (1,255) and Kedah (1,514).

Penang reported a rise in new infections at 959 cases compared with yesterday's 776.

Perlis also recorded a surge in infections from nine cases yesterday to 41 today.

Kelantan continues to record three digit cases at 930, followed by Negri Sembilan (884), Perak (774), Pahang (714), Sarawak (573), Terengganu (425) and Melaka (414).

Covid-19 cases in Putrajaya showed a decline from yesterday's 122 to 56 as of noon.

Labuan logged in two cases as of noon today. The new cases bring the total positive Covid-19 cases in the country to 1,243,852.
