KUALA LUMPUR: Over 16,000 individuals, including foreigners, were vaccinated in less than two weeks at the Plus Malaysia Bhd's Persada Plus Integrated Public Vaccination Centre (IPVC).
Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said he was happy with the progress and efficiency at the highway concessionaire's headquarters.
"As of yesterday, close to 24 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide.
"(And) Plus has been part of this growing number and it is indeed encouraging for the National Recovery Plan to be a reality sooner rather than later," he said after his working visit to the IPVC.
Khairy, who is also the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (PICK) coordinating minister, said Plus in its capacity as Rakan Negara (friend of the nation) has been exemplary in its commitment to support Malaysia's goal to vaccinate as many as possible.
"I applaud Plus and its medical advisory partner; Primer Cherang in making this IPVC a success in such a short time," he said.
The IPVC is a collaboration between Plus, its medical partner Primer Cherang and ProtectHealth, the implementer of private medical practitioner participation in PICK.
The initiative was also supported by the Health Ministry and the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
Meanwhile, Plus managing director Datuk Azman Ismail said: "For us as a nation to get back on our feet from this pandemic, we need to be able to protect our people from the scourge of the coronavirus, and that is through vaccination.
"By volunteering our headquarters as an IPVC, it stems from our core vision of making sure everyone returns home safely to their loved ones.
"On this premise alone we expensed our resources to make this a success, and only then will commerce be able to resume and small businesses be revived.
"(And) when this day happens, our country will recover economically as well as socially, which I foresee soon."
