KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor could be moving out of Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) as early as next month.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said based on data from MySejahtera, 98 per cent of the state's population have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Recent reports on the decline in admissions to hospitals also indicate that the state is ready to move to Phase 2 of the NRP in September, according to Amirudin.
"There is a significant decline in hospital admissions. We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Hopefully we can move to Phase 2 and open up more social and economic sectors," he said during a press conference held via Zoom today.
However, he said it would be difficult for people to return to life as it was prior to the pandemic.
He said as the country progresses towards recovery, borders will be opened and new cases of Covid-19 variants might be reported.
Hence, he said the people will need to continue observing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
"Wearing face masks and observing physical distancing must be followed," he added.
Meanwhile, he said the government will deploy mobile vaccination efforts to ensure no one is left behind, including undocumented foreign workers.
He said data of those who received their vaccines were only those who registered via MySejahtera or those who received their vaccines through local vaccination centres (PPV).
He believes there could be others who did not register for vaccination, hence the need for mobile vaccination efforts.
