KOTA BARU: Kota Baru member of parliament Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan described his new ministerial portfolio as a big challenge in his career.
While thanking Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the appointment, Takiyuddin said his new responsibility as Energy and Natural Resources Minister would still require him to be involved in legal matters.
"My new portfolio requires me to deal with many legal aspects involving land and natural resources.
"I believe our new PM has his own reason and plan when he decided to change certain positions in his new cabinet line-up.
"But most of the ministers are holding the same position and the changes made are very appropriate.
"The portfolio of the Energy and Natural Resources Minister is new for me. l am confident that l can handle this responsibility with the help of other officers including my deputy who has wide experience as an engineer," Takiyuddin told reporters after presenting the Jalur Gemilang flags to motorists in Kota Baru today.
On the Prime Minister's target for all ministries to submit their short and long-term plans, Takiyuddin said he believed all ministries could meet the requirement.
"I am sure that the new federal cabinet line-up can achieve the target. As for my ministry, l will ensure we will contribute our best."
Takiyuddin was among the ministers retained in the new cabinet line-up yesterday, but was given a new portfolio.
Before this, the Pas secretary-general was Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law).
