Three students lodge police reports rejecting Covid-19 vaccine

KUALA LUMPUR: Two siblings and another teenager today lodged a police report to uphold their rights to refuse the Covid-19 vaccine following the government's decision to start inoculating school students.

A 17-year-old teenager said he decided to lodge the report out of fear what would happen to him should he take the vaccine.

"Whatever happens to me after taking the vaccine is my own responsibility. Hence, I have the right to reject becoming a test subject by taking the vaccine. I am a healthy student and not willing to take the risk which could harm my body after taking the vaccines which are relatively new.

"I do not want to risk my life. There are other ways to prevent Covid-19 infection through holistic homeopathic medicine, sunnah foods that my family consumes to protect ourselves against Covid-19," he said after lodging the report at the Taman Melawati police station here together with his 12-year-old sister and 17-year-old friend.

The siblings were accompanied by their mother, who is an actress, when making the police report.

The teenager claimed to have received a form from his teacher for the vaccine two weeks ago. In the form, the students have been informed that no parties will be held responsible if facing side effects after taking the vaccine.

"They did not say any action will be taken against those who decide not to take the vaccine," he said, adding that all his family members had yet to take their vaccines.

He also clarified that no one had forced him to lodge the police report and it was done in soundness of judgement after evaluating available information.

"I gathered the information on the vaccines from the Internet and also via news from abroad together with input from my mother and relatives. Based on this, I have decided not to take the vaccine," he said.

When contacted, Ampang police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak confirmed receiving the report today.
