JOHOR BARU: Malaysians who completed their Covid-19 vaccination abroad need to get a vaccination certificate that is confirmed and recognised by the MySejahtera mobile application.
Foreign vaccine recipients can do so by lodging a report at any District Health Office to get the certification, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister (MOSTI) Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
He said the move was to enable the National Centre for Crisis Preparedness and Response (CPRC) to confirm the authenticity of international vaccination certificates and the inoculation taken by the recipients.
Dr Adham said the move would also enable residents of Malaysia vaccinated abroad to be allowed to go about their daily routines, which would include complying with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the country's economic sector.
"For those who were vaccinated abroad, including Singapore or other countries and who want to get a digital vaccination certificate through the Mysejahtera application, they need to lodge a report at the District Health Office.
"It is to enable them to provide information on the vaccination received abroad for official confirmation. The important thing is that we want them to confirm whether the international vaccination certificate received is genuine and the type of vaccine received is approved by the country (Malaysia).
"The process involves the State Health Department sending the report (lodged) to the CPRC in Putrajaya before the agency verifies and informs MySejahtera to issue a digital vaccination certificate on the application. This is the process that we are implementing.
"We have informed the State Health Department so that the district health office would take note of the people from Malaysia who are present there (at the health centres) to make their report on the vaccination received abroad," he said after visiting the Mount Austin Vaccination Center (PPV) at the Austin International Convention Center, here, today.
Meanwhile, Dr Adham, who is also the co-chairman of the Covid-19 Special Immunisation Task Force (CITF), said the government would inspect tourists' vaccination certificates thoroughly at the respective Langkawi entry points once the resort island reopens under the tourism bubble program, starting Sept 16.
"Tourists will show their vaccination certificates at the international gateway in Langkawi for verification
"Officers of the Health Ministry (MoH) have certain methods or SOPs that will be used," he said.
