VIP who jumped queue at mosque for Friday prayers to be probed

KOTA BARU: The Prime Minister's Department will probe a VIP who allegedly jumped the queue at a mosque to perform Friday prayer, after a video of the incident went viral.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary said Muslims going to the mosque should be treated equally and they also must follow the same rules set by the authorities.

"There should be no special treatment even to VIP and I would like to stress here that the `kayangan VIP' (special guest) cluster does not exist in mosques."

He said mosque management should use their discretion and not submit to the whim of certain groups or individuals, adding that they will wait for explanation on the matter by the relevant mosque.

"Even I will queue at the mosque, the most important thing is (worshippers) should come early to get a spot," he told reporters after presenting cash aid and food donation to trishaw riders here today.

On a separate issue, Ahmad Marzuk said the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) will conduct its own investigation on the leader of the `Perjalanan Mimpi Yang Terakhir' deviant group following her release from police remand.

"The investigation will start soon on the group's main agenda and whether it has deviated from the path of Islamic teaching.

"If the woman and her followers decide to repent, we will help them and give them proper education but if there is evidence to charge them, we will proceed," he said.

The woman who was arrested at her home in Shah Alam, was released on police bail yesterday.

Social media platforms were abuzz recently with reports of a woman named Sittah Annur linked to the deviant group.

The 39-year-old who claimed to be a clairvoyant alleged that World War III would soon take place in Sabah.

Sittah claimed she would lead her team to look for Imam Mahdi to fight the enemies.

She also claimed that she had special abilities and could predict the future.

During their raid of her home, the police found receipts totalling RM84,721, believed to have been donated by her supporters.
