KUALA LUMPUR: Five vaccination centres in the Klang Valley will be open for walk-ins to Malaysians from Sept 16 to Sept 30.
Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) in a statement said the five centres are Bangi Avenue Convention Centre (BACC), Bangi; Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya; Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil; Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute, (UniKL British BMI), Gombak and HCOB Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam.
"This is a quick-win approach taken to optimise the resources following a slow turn up for walk in at PPVs around Klang Valley.
"Higher education students can also receive their vaccines at these centres," said CITF.
It said the limitation to only five centres was in line with CITF strategy to optimise resources under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme.
"Walk-ins in other states will still continue. Members of public are advised to follow announcement made by respective state health departments for latest update."
CITF said it would also have further discussion with the Health Ministry over ProtectHealth Corp Sdn Bhd's involvement in the walk-in appointments initiative.
"The discussion will be focused on expanding walk-in initiative for Malaysian adult at general practitioner clinic in the Klang Valley.
"ProtectHealth is expected to offer services at selected private clinics for Malaysians starting Oct 1."
Until Sept 15, 13 vaccination centres remained open in the Klang Valley.
Meanwhile, CITF said for individuals who had received their first dose of vaccine at vaccination centres that were now closed in Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor, could walk in for second jabs at Klinik SP Cara Antara Gapi in Julu Selangor and Poliklinik Medi Ihsan in Taman Gaya Merak, as well as Poliklinik Medi Ihsan in Taman Makmur, Kuala Selangor.
