More relaxation of activities for the fully-vaccinated in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Fully-vaccinated individuals in Sabah will be allowed to take part in more activities come Monday as the state reopened more sectors.

State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 10 types of operations and activities were now allowed which included indoor and outdoor sport and recreation, fitness, hiking, pond fishing, group training centre, domestic cruise ship, face-to-face meetings, private office, factories and liquor stores, and higher learning institutions.

"Indoor and outdoor sport and reactional activities are allowed for individuals who have received full vaccination.

"Fitness activities such as aerobics, Zumba performed individually or in groups in the gymnasium or any fitness centre are allowed provided the trainer and participants have completed the vaccination and comply with the 50 per cent capacity or not exceeding 30 people (whichever is lower).

"Hiking activities either individually or in a group are also permitted to fully vaccinated people," he said in a statement.

Masidi said factories and liquor stores were also permitted to operate provided the workers have been fully vaccinated. However, nightclubs, pubs and karaoke centres are still not allowed to open.

"The details of the standard operating procedure (SOPs) for some of the operations and activities will be released tomorrow (Sept 19)," he added.

Today, Sabah recorded 1,395 new infections, its lowest since Aug 11 when 1,514 cases were detected.

Masidi said of the 1,395 cases today, 558 were backlogged cases; and close contacts tracings still contributed the highest number of cases at 833.

A new cluster was also detected dubbed the Sawit Safoda cluster in Kinabatangan which recorded 23 positive cases so far.

Sabah also registered 13 deaths – three each in Lahad Datu and Putatan, two each in Tawau and Kudat and one each in Kota Belud, Sandakan and Kinabatangan.

As of yesterday, Sabah's full vaccination rate among the adult population was at 55.9 per cent.
