Masidi Manjun to lead Sabah election seat negotiations

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun has been appointed to chair a committee focused on negotiating election seats for Sabah.

The decision was announced by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, chairman of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), who is also Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan) president.

"We have agreed to establish this committee, led by Gagasan deputy president Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who will engage with our component parties in GRS and those supporting the current government, Pakatan Harapan Plus," Hajiji said after chairing the Gagasan Rakyat supreme council meeting at the Sabah International Convention Centre today.

He said that while discussions would primarily focus on government allies, the committee remained open to dialogue with other supportive parties that aligned with the unity government's goals.

When asked about a timeline for finalising candidates, Hajiji said that no fixed date had been set.

Although the state assembly must dissolve by October next year, the Chief Minister indicated that the election schedule remained uncertain.

He also said that Gagasan would hold a three-day convention this weekend, which is expected to attract over 5,000 delegates.

The party currently boasts 304,817 members across 6,977 branches.
