KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today unveiled the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) with the objective of transforming the nation into 'a Prosperous, Inclusive and Sustainable - Keluarga Malaysia' during the five year (from 2021 until 2025) period.
In his speech at the tabling of the 12MP in the Dewan Rakyat, Ismail Sabri today said the development blueprint will determine the country's strategic direction with focus given towards effort to restart and rejuvenate economic growth, ensuring equal distribution of the prosperity of the nation apart from maintain the sustainability of the environment.
The 12MP, he said, was developed at a time when the world is facing when the severe challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Many among us, Keluarga Malaysia, are affected. Under this new environment and norms, there are those who perished (from the virus) and that they are those who have became unemployed.
"To ensure their lives will go on, there are those who were forced to explore new employment areas or perform two jobs.
"I would like to express my sincerest condolence to the victims of the virus. Let us pray that our efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic is blessed by Allah, and that this situation (caused by Covid-19) will end soon," he said.
Earlier in his speech, Ismail Sabri recorded the nation's appreciation to all frontliners who had made immense contributions in the fight against Covid-19.
He described the nation's frontliners who fought tirelessly to curb the spread of the virus as heroes of 'Keluarga Malaysia'.
"We are indebted with the contribution of the frontliners who were committed in carrying out their responsibilities in battle against the pandemic-induced crises," he said.
Ismail Sabri also recorded his appreciation to his predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was involved in preparation of the 12MP in the preliminary stage.
