Contra flow on NSE near Jasin due to oil spill

KUALA LUMPUR: A contra flow was activated between KM183.9-KM179.9 on the North-South Expressway (NSE) at the Ayer Keroh-Jasin route following an accident involving an oil tanker.

The accident took place at KM181.9.

In a statement early this morning, PLUS said they were collaborating with the Department of Environment to remove the oil tanker.

It said due to uncertain weather conditions, the DOE has advised for the clearance work to be done immediately.

Following this, PLUS initiated the activation of a contra flow between at 9pm last night until 7am this morning.

During the period, access to the Bemban Lay-by (South Bound) and the Jasin Interchange were closed to traffic.

"Safety is our top priority. Thank you to all our highway customers for the patience and cooperation during this period," said PLUS' Head of Operation Excellence Mohd Yusuf Abd Aziz.
