Potholes in KL? Call me directly, says Shahidan

KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territories Minister Shahidan Kassim has shared his phone number with the public so that they can alert him of potholes in Kuala Lumpur.

Shahidan said the public, especially Kuala Lumpur residents could either inform him, his deputy minister and the KL mayor on any pothole-related complaints as he read out the telephone numbers.

"We are prepared. The public can contact me at 0194545111; my deputy Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias at 0196524444; or the KL mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah at 0162068883," he told the Dewan Rakyat during his ministry's winding-up speech on the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) debate today.

Shahidan was responding to Batu Member of Parliament P. Prabakaran's query on the ministry's action on the rising number of potholes near construction sites in Kuala Lumpur.

The Arau MP added that he had instructed the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to respond within 24 hours to any complaints involving potholes in the city.

"City Hall has been keeping tabs on potholes located on main roads, highways as well as highly concentrated areas in the city.

"Those who are visiting KL should also lodge a report if they encounter any potholes on the roads," he said.

Shahidan's move also mirrored Senior International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's action in 2014 who took to Twitter to share his personal phone number for Selangor residents to alert him on uncollected garbage.

At the time Mohamed Azmin was the Selangor Menteri Besar.
