KUANTAN: The Pahang government has approved a 90ha site in Tanjung Putus, near here, for the development of another Permanent Food Production Park (PFPP).
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said this will bring the total number of agriculture farms in Pahang to 19.
He said 5,282ha had been allocated for PFPP, which is the equivalent to 6,860 football fields.
"The state executive council meeting today agreed to approve the site and Pahang has now emerged as the largest contributor to the development of PFPP in the country.
"The land in Tanjung Putus involves 28 lots owned by the State Government Secretariat Corporation (PSK) which has been approved to grow vegetables and other crops," he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said the PFPP will see the involvement of youths between 18 and 40 with certificate, diploma or degree qualifications in agriculture and other suitable fields.
"Those in the B40 category, aged between 23 and 50, will be offered to take part. In Phase 1, each participant will be given a minimum of 0.4ha to a maximum of 1ha each.
"For Phase 2, the land expansion size will depend based on the approval from the State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Biotechnology Committee.
"We hope the PFPP in Tanjung Putus will help boost food production in the state and country, and help the deserving participants generate income," he said.
