KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang crushed Perlis 7-2 in a men's Group A match in the Razak Cup hockey tournament at Taman Daya Stadium, Johor Baru on Thursday (Oct 3).
Pahang who thrashed Singapore 18-0 on Wednesday, scored their goals through Syawal Abdul Razak (third minute), Syamil Azim Dzulkafly (11th), Idris Samad (12th), Atif Aqil Zubir (15th), Shafiq Ikhmal Daniel Suzaini (16th), Arif Haikal Ross Iskandar (44th) and Ismail Abu (59th).
Both Perlis' goals were scored by Amirul Azahar (14th and 42nd).
Pahang coach Sufian Mohamed said his team had a dream start in the first two matches.
"We never expected such a big win over Singapore. We made full use of our chances to outplay Perlis but my team's actual competition begins against Penang tomorrow.
"Penang and hosts Johor will pose a threat to us as both teams are strong."
Pahang reached the final in 2019, 2021 and 2022, but lost on all three occasions.
Johor registered their second win by beating Penang 3-0 in a Group A match.
On Wednesday, they defeated Perlis 3-1.
