Muhyiddin offers condolences to family of special officer who died earlier today

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has offered condolences to the family of his special officer Datuk Ahmad Faizal Abdul Rahman, who died earlier today.

The former prime minister, in a Facebook post, said the news of Faizal's death came as a shock to him and his family.

He said Faizal was a dedicated, responsible and trustworthy Administrative and Diplomatic Officer (PTD) and started working as his special officer when he was the international trade and industry minister in 2008 and later when he was appointed deputy prime minister.

"This is in line with his pledge to be a government staff who would always uphold the country's interests. I have fond memories of him during the time he was working with me."

Muhyiddin said Faizal was working as a special officer handling international affairs when he was appointed the prime minister in March, 2020.

He said he had also visited the family of the deceased today and prayed that they would be granted strength during these sad times, especially for the latter's three children.

"I pray that the soul of Datuk Ahmad Faizal will receive blessings from Allah so that he is placed among the pious."
