KUALA LUMPUR: The Covid-19 infectivity rate or Rt in Malaysia has continued to rise to 1.04, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Putrajaya continued to record the highest Rt at 1.17, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1.06), Selangor (1.04), Negri Sembilan (1.03), Pahang (1.02), Kelantan (1.01), Sabah (0.99), Perlis (0.88), Melaka (0.97), Kedah (0.96), Johor (0.95), Terengganu (0.92), Penang (0.91), Perak (0.90), Sarawak (0.88) and Labuan (eight cases).
The Rt has been on the rise starting Nov 6 and it returned to 1.0 on Thursday, five weeks after the government lifted the ban on interstate travel.
Dr Noor Hisham had previously said that an Rt above 1.0 indicates the possibility of a new Covid-19 wave, like what Malaysia experienced in the beginning of the third wave.
He had since reminded the people to comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) and told vulnerable groups to immediately get their Covid-19 booster shots when they receive their appointments.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin was also reported as saying that his ministry is monitoring hospital admissions and other leading indicators after the national Rt climbed to 1.0.
He also reminded the people to practise TRIIS (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform and Seek).
