Anwar, Lim and Mat Sabu to meet with PM on RM100m allocation for ex-PM issue

MELAKA: Opposition leaders will meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob following the alleged RM100 million allocation for a former prime minister taken from the government's coffers.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) deputy chairman Lim Guan Eng said the government's decision to consider giving land and a house worth RM100 million to a former premier is ludicrous.

"I have discussed with (PKR president) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and (Amanah president) Mohamad Sabu this matter yesterday… the matter is not aligned with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) we have signed with the government.

"The three of us will be meeting the prime minister on this matter, and if he is persistent with the decision then we cannot accept something that is against the MoU.

"The agreement then must be reviewed or more than that," he said at a press conference held virtually today.

Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, said if the allocation is included in the Supplementary Supply Bill, the PH members of parliament will reject the motion.

"It is something that both supporters and parties cannot accept. In fact, we are surprised with what has been revealed," he said.

The Bagan MP added that it is also surprising that Bersatu cabinet ministers and MPs have yet to speak up against the matter.

"How can the cabinet ministers accept this matter, especially Bersatu as they have been fighting against corruption and Datuk Seri Najib Razak?" he said.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz during his wind-up speech on the 2022 Budget confirmed an application was made by former prime minister Najib for a property worth RM100 million in the country's capital.

Tengku Zafrul said the application was submitted after the tabling of the 2022 Budget.

The application to build a residential property from the sixth premier had caused an uproar in Parliament, especially among MPs from the opposition who demanded clarification from Tengku Zafrul.
