PUTRAJAYA: The cabinet has agreed to cap the prices of Covid-19 vaccine booster shots available at private clinics.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said private sale of doses, including Sinovac, was in addition to the vaccines administered for free through the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP).
"The Health Ministry and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will set a ceiling price for the vaccines. We will make an announcement this next week," he said in a press conference today.
Khairy said the ministry continued to recommend both the vaccination and booster jabs for the people, even those who have recovered from Covid-19 infection.
"That is the stand of the Health Ministry, until new scientific evidence presents otherwise.
"We are of the view that even if you have recovered from the infection, it is better to receive your Covid-19 vaccination and booster. We will update you from time to time."
