KUALA LUMPUR: Friday has been declared a public holiday for all three federal territories in celebration of KL City winning the Malaysia Cup yesterday.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim in a statement said the additional public holiday was made according to Sub-section 9(2) of the Public Holidays Act 1951 for the federal territories.
The public holiday covers Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
Yesterday, underdog KL City ended their 32-year drought in the Malaysia Cup, defeating Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) 2-0 in a thrilling final held at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Despite the dominant display by JDT, Bojan Hodak's side opened the scoring through Zhafri Yahya in the 66th minute, with KL City captain Paulo Josue adding the second eight minutes later.
